As fellow Ostomates, it is important to share our stories,  experiences and journey in a safe and friendly environment.  It doesn’t matter what the reason is for you becoming an Ostomate, whether it was due to Cancer or other severe medical conditions, we are not alone in this journey, and no one should feel ashamed or afraid to share their feelings or ideas.

We need to be supportive, caring and understanding of each other. This support group is a place where we can feel safe and be free to share as little or as much about our journey with an Ostomy and know that everyone in the support group, like you, has ostomies too and would be grateful for your insights.

It is also a place where we can have special speakers, such as Ostomy Nurses and suppliers of Ostomy products, etc., from time to time, who can answer our questions and concerns that we may have.

Please help make this Support group a fun and inviting place for all Ostomy patients.

There are no monthly or yearly fees as this is a free service offered to those with Ostomies by those of us with Ostomies.

We meet on the Second Tuesday of every month from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

The BC J-Pouch Group offers a quarterly Zoom meeting hosted by Arden Townshend, RN, NSWOC. This group is for anyone considering, in the process of having surgery for, or living with a J-Pouch, or who has had surgery to make an ileostomy after a J-Pouch is welcome.

Ostomy Saint John is a group of ostomates who meet monthly from September to June to encourage, educate and support fellow ostomates.

Meetings are normally held on the third Sunday of the month unless other conflicts occur. Meet in the General Activity Room. Coffee, tea, and cookies will be provided.

Join the Comox Valley Ostomy Support Group for our next coffee get-together.

We meet at Quality Foods in Driftwood Mall in their private room on the 2nd floor.  For those who haven’t been before, once you are on the 2nd floor, go to the left to get your coffee, etc. and then go behind the coffee bar and towards the washrooms. The meeting room is opposite the washrooms.

These are very casual gatherings where people chat and get to know each other. If you have any ostomy-related questions, please feel free to ask the group. We will try our best to answer them or refer you to someone who can. If you are not feeling well, we ask that you don’t attend. 

Join Ostomy Moncton for their monthly meetings, which allow members to share information and experiences. Meetings are held at the YMCA on 30 War Memorial Ave (corner John St.) in the Community Room, which is to the right as you enter.

The Charlottetown Ostomy Support Group meets on the last Wednesday of each month, except July, August, and December. Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. in room 207 of the Murphy’s Community Centre in Charlottetown.

The Cobourg Ostomy Support Group of Northumberland hosts a support group on the last Friday of every month (except December). This meeting is held for ostomates and their carers for mutual encouragement and informational resources, often featuring guest speakers from the healthcare field, producers of ostomy supplies and other relevant experts, and sharing members’ experiences. We welcome ostomates of all ages and experience and their carers (colostomy, ileostomy and urostomy).
